Hannibal Classics and Patriot Pictures have unveiled the first international trailer to the Nicolas Cage-led WW2 disaster tale “USS Indianapolis: Men of Courage”. Mario Van Peebles helms from a script by Cam Cannon and Richard Rionda Del Castro.
Cage plays Capt. Charles Butler McVay, whose ship was torpedoed in the South Pacific in July of 1945 after delivering parts for the first atomic bombs.
Without an escort and not reported missing until four days later, only 317 of the 1,197 crewmen aboard survived as the rest either went down with the ship or died from exposure, dehydration, saltwater poisoning or shark attacks. McVay was court-martialed, then exonerated more than half a century later.
