The new sci-fi film “Extinction” was an unexciting sounding project which suddenly became a lot more interesting earlier this year when Universal Pictures suddenly pulled the movie from the schedule two months from release and without explanation.
The film hails from Ben Young, whose incredibly dark Australian kidnap drama “Hounds of Love” scored much acclaim so there was talk that the studio baulked at what they had. In any case, the film has ended up at Netflix where the streamer is set to launch it on July 27th.
Michael Pena, Lizzy Caplan and Mike Colter star in the film in which a father has a recurring dream of losing his family. His nightmare turns into reality when the planet is invaded by a force bent on destruction.
