Premiering at the Cannes Film Festival to utterly scathing reviews, Gus Van Sant’s suicide drama “The Sea of Trees” is finally getting a theatrical release almost a year later overseas on April 29th. Roadside Attractions has the U.S. rights but hasn’t set a date yet.
Matthew McConaughey, Ken Watanabe, and Naomi Watts star in the film which follows a suicidal American on his way to die in the the dense Aokigahara forest near Mt. Fuji who befriends a Japanese man lost in the woods. The two ultimately search for a way out.
