First Trailer: Martin Scorsese’s “Silence”

The first trailer has arrived for Martin Scorsese’s “Silence,” a film adaptation of Shusaku Endo’s acclaimed 1966 novel which the director has been trying to bring to the big screen for almost three decades. Finally it will come to cinemas at Christmas.

The story follows two Christian missionaries (Andrew Garfield and Adam Driver) who travel to Japan in search of their missing mentor (Liam Neeson). Their journey takes place at a time when Christianity was outlawed in Japan.
