Netflix has released the first trailer for its historical epic “Outlaw King” which sees the re-teaming of “Hell or High Water” director David MacKenzie and star Chris Pine.
MacKenzie, who also directed acclaimed prison drama “Starred Up,” penned the film about medieval Scottish King Robert the Bruce. Set in the years after rebel leader William Wallace’s death, Robert is transformed from defeated nobleman, to reluctant King, to outlaw hero over the course of a year.
He seizes the crown and leads a small group of surviving rebels to save his country from the oppressive English occupation – facing the wrath of the world’s strongest army lead by the ferocious King Edward I and his volatile son, the Prince of Wales.
Stephen Dillane, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Florence Pugh, Billy Howle, Tony Curran, Callan Mulvey and James Cosmo co-star. The film is set to be released in select theaters on November 9th as well as on Netflix.
