Its pedigree is exemplary and now the first trailer is here for “The Little Drummer Girl,” the new six-part BBC and AMC miniseries based on “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy” author John le Carre’s best-selling spy novel.
Michael Shannon, Alexander Skarsgard and Florence Pugh lead the cast of the late 1970s set TV event which hails from visionary Korean filmmaker Park Chan-wook (“Oldboy,” “The Handmaiden”). It’s also a return of much of the team behind 2016’s acclaimed le Carre adaptation “The Night Manager”.
Pugh plays Charlie, a fiery actress and idealist whose resolve is tested after she meets the mysterious Becker (Skarsgard) while on holiday in Greece. It becomes apparent that his intentions are not what they seem, and she is now entangled in a complex plot devised by the spy mastermind Kurtz (Shannon). Charlie takes on the role of a lifetime as a double agent.
The series will run in the form of three two-hour episodes over consecutive nights from November 19th-21st.
