Following strong reviews at the Sundance Film Festival, the remake of Susanne Bier’s 2006 breakout film “After the Wedding” has posted its first trailer.
The new film follows the life of a social worker traveling home to negotiate a grant for an orphanage in Calcutta from a wealthy benefactor.
The new take swaps the genders of both roles, putting Michelle Williams in the Mads Mikkelsen social worker role and Julianne Moore in the Rolf Lassgard benefactor role, along with updating the time setting of the story.
Bart Freundlich pens and directs the new take which also stars Billy Crudup and Abby Quinn. “After The Wedding” opens on August 9th in limited release.
