First Trailer: “10 Cloverfield Lane”

Dropping just hours after the project was announced, the teaser trailer has arrived for the J.J. Abrams-produced “10 Cloverfield Lane,” something of a spin-off or sister film to the 2008 creature feature “Cloverfield”. Like that film, the campaign here is playing up the mystery angle and that starts with this trailer which is executed brilliantly and is certainly the first great trailer of 2016 so far.

Starting out as what looks like a father and his two adult children trying to kill time together at home, the situation grows increasingly stranger and darker as the backing music of the original version of “I Think We’re Alone Now” decelerates and the level of dread increases. Dan Trachtenberg (“Portal: No Escape”) helms the film which stars John Goodman, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and John Gallagher, Jr. and is slated to open March 11th.
