First “Skull Island” Set Photos Go Online

Legendary and Warner Bros. Pictures have begun production on “Kong: Skull Island,” the second in a four-film cinematic universe that retroactively began with last year’s “Godzilla” reboot and will continue with a sequel to that film and a “Godzilla vs Kong” feature in 2020.

Jordan Vogt-Roberts helms ‘Skull Island’ which has just started production in Hawaii, and the first photos from the set confirm that the project certainly lives up to its name. Reel Tour Hawaii posted the pics on their social media accounts with one shot showing Samuel L. Jackson and several other cast members posing together.

Jackson also says he’s learning to pilot the helicopter pictured for the film, a vintage chopper which certainly seems to fit in with the rumors that the movie will incorporate a 1970s setting. Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson, John Goodman, Jing Tian, Corey Hawkins, Jason Mitchell, John Ortiz, Shea Whigham and Toby Kebbell also star in the film which is targeting a March 10th 2017 release.
