MGM and Paramount Pictures have released the first photos to USA Today from their upcoming new adaptation of Lew Wallace’s classic 1880 novel “Ben-Hur”.
Jack Huston (“Boardwalk Empire”) takes on the role of the prince in Roman-occupied Jerusalem who is betrayed by his adopted brother Messala (Toby Kebbell) and forced onto a slave ship. Five years later, following training at the hands of Ilderim (Morgan Freeman), he seeks revenge in a chariot race.
Also onboard are Rodrigo Santoro as Jesus Christ and Pilou Asbaek as Pontius Pilate in a film that’s expected to follow the novel closer than the original William Wyler 1959 movie starring Charlton Heston. The new “Ben-Hur” opens August 12th.
