Some filmmakers have a hard time crossing over into television, but not Cary Fukunaga who followed up acclaimed films like “Jane Eyre,” “Sin Nombre” and “Beasts of No Nation” with the even more acclaimed first season of HBO’s “True Detective”.
Now, after developing and subsequently departing the “IT” film, and executive producing TNT’s “The Alienist” series, he’s slated to return to the director’s chair with a new Netflix black comedy series, “Maniac”. Today, the first photos have gone online.
Jonah Hill, Emma Stone, Sally Field and Justin Theroux star in the story of two strangers that become part of a suspicious mind-bending pharmaceutical trial. There’s presently no word as yet regarding a release date but with photos being released it suggests fairly soon – likely mid-year.
