One of the strangest projects in the works right now is “Honey Boy,” a roman-a-clef style film penned by Shia LaBeouf and dealing with his relationship with his father at two different stages in his life: as a young boy starting out as an actor and a young man with a burgeoning career.
As a young man, he ping-pongs between twelve-step programs with said parent, a former clown performer and recovering heroin addict, and TV and film sets. LaBeouf, who penned the film, will also portray his dad in both stages of the story opposite Noah Jupe (“A Quiet Place”) as the younger version of himself and Lucas Hedges (“Manchester by the Sea”) as the older version.
Today the first photos from the set have started popping up online and showcase LaBeouf in action. Alma Harel is directing while Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, Christopher Leggett and Daniela Taplin Lundberg will produce the film which doesn’t yet have a release date.
