One of the most exciting and talented filmmakers of recent times has been French Canadian boy genius Xavier Dolan. From his brilliant first effort with “I Killed My Mother” which he shot at 18, to his subsequent achievements with the likes of “Tom at the Farm” and “Mommy,” everyone is now desperate to see what the now 26-year-old is up to next.
For a while it seemed he was trying to do his first English-Language effort with “The Death and Life of John F. Donovan,” a project that seemingly stalled. Dolan isn’t letting that slow him down though as he’s just begun production on a new film entitled “It’s Only The End Of The World”.
Marion Cotillard, Lea Seydoux and Vincent Cassel star in the film inspired by Jean-Luc Lagarce’s play. The story follows a writer who returns home after a twelve-year absence to announce his impending death, and the reunion with his family that follows. Today, The Playlist has posted the first shot from the movie which could well have its debut at Cannes next year.
