AMC has premiered the first image from their upcoming eight-part global thriller event series “McMafia”.
“Grantchester” star James Norton leads the series as Alex Godman, the English-raised son of Russian exiles with a mafia history. Faye Marsay (“Game of Thrones”) portrays his sister Katya and Juliet Rylance (“The Knick”) is his strong-willed and morally upright girlfriend Rebecca.
Also onboard are Aleksey Serebryakov (“Leviathan”) as his father Dimitri who is also the exiled head of a Russian crime syndicate. Finally, there’s Maria Shukshina as his socialite mother Oksana.
When his family’s past murderously returns to threaten them, Alex is forced to confront his values to protect those he loves. What starts out as a story of survival becomes an epic tale of a man’s struggle against the lures of corruption in the modern world and in himself.
Created by “Drive” scribe Hossein Amini and “The Woman in Black” director James Watkins, the BBC, AMC and Cuba Pictures production will premiere next year on the network.
