Marvel Entertainment had released the first photo from the upcoming sixth season of “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” with Henry Simmons’ Alphonso ‘Mack’ Mackenzie taking over as the new director of the law enforcement agency.
The season five finale saw the team stopping Glenn Talbot, aka Graviton, but also saw Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) leave with Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen) to return to Tahiti and live out his final days. With Coulson finally officially dead, Mack takes over the reigns and Simmons tells TV Line:
“Personally, I love the challenge of being the director of S.H.I.E.L.D. Mack has worked side-by-side with the people he now leads, that works to his advantage….he’s one of them. But, the one thing that can hinder Mack’s ability to lead is his reluctance to put the people he loves in the line of danger. As a result, this may lead to Mack’s toughest decision as director…. What sacrifices will be made?”
The new thirteen-episode sixth season is set to debut sometime in Summer 2019 while a thirteen episode seventh season has already been greenlit.
