Sixteen-year-old actor Mateus Ward (“Murder in the First”) has reportedly emerged as the first name to have auditioned for the role of Spider-Man for the upcoming Marvel-approved reboot.
Bad Ass Digest posted the news, which would seem to indicate the plan for this third reboot is to stick with Peter Parker rather than Miles Morales. It would also confirm rumors that the studio is going much younger than previous incarnations, and looking at proper teenagers for the role.
Another surprising detail – the audition was secret enough it took place at a home rather than at a studio or office. Whomever lands the role is expected to shoot his scenes for “Captain America: Civil War” this year ahead of his solo “Spider-Man” film which will film next year.
