Though shot some time ago, actor and filmmaker Warren Beatty has been keeping his latest film under wraps.EW lifted the lid on the film today, revealing that it has scored the title “Rules Don’t Apply”.
His fifth directorial effort overall and first since 1998’s “Bulworth,” Beatty stars in the movie as the reclusive billionaire Howard Hughes. Beatty, who hasn’t been seen on screen since 2001’s “Town & Country,” has also enlisted some impressive talent including future Han Solo star Alden Ehrenreich along with Lily Collins, Haley Bennett, Alec Baldwin, Matthew Broderick, Candice Bergen, Steve Coogan, Martin Sheen, Ed Harris, Oliver Platt and Annette Bening.
Talking about the film, he says he’s long been drawn to Hughes but stresses this isn’t going to be a “The Aviator”-style serious drama about him: “I never lost my curiosity about him. It’s just that I don’t run around doing movies all the time… this ain’t a biopic about Howard Hughes, it has some good laughs in it.” 20th Century Fox is expected to release the film sometime later this year.
