EW has released the cover for their latest issue which offers a first look at “Thor: Ragnarok” including Chris Hemsworth’s title character sporting a new look, along with the debuts of Cate Blanchett’s Hela and Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie.
The story attached to cover indicates Hela is accidentally unleashed from her prison where she was locked away for millennia and now intends to cause Ragnarok – the destruction of his homeworld and the end of Asgardian civilization. She attacks Thor, sending him to a desolate planet called Sakaar where he realizes he’s no longer special compared to the people on this world.
There he’s forced to become a gladiator and team with the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) who has become Sakaar’s most successful and popular fighter. Hemsworth describes the planet as: “where every wormhole across the universe dumps out its trash, so you get people from all walks of life with all sorts of incredible abilities and powers.”
Blanchett worked with stuntwoman Zoe Bell and learned the Brazilian martial art discipline Capoeira to prep for the role. “Thor: Ragnarok” hits cinemas on November 3rd.
