The first photos from Craig Gillespie’s “Fright Night” 3D remake are out via Moviefone and show two-thirds of the main cast including Anton Yelchin, Colin Farrell, Imogen Poots and Christopher Mintz-Plasse. Missing are David Tennant and Toni Collette, but it’s early days yet.
The actual images themselves are rather small (not hi-res by any means) and disappointingly indicate the film is sporting that often very VHS video-looking digital steadicam cinematography seen in the likes “My Bloody Valentine 3D” or Michael Mann’s various recent efforts like “Miami Vice,” “Collateral” and “Public Enemies”.
The choice to do it this way is an unexpected one, but certainly differs it from the 80’s original which was shot on film. Maybe Gillespie is trying some pseudo-documentary style approach here?
