First Footage From Aronofsky’s “mother!”

There’s still a handful of films due before year’s end that have yet to release any official stills or footage, including Alexander Payne’s “Downsizing,” Paul Thomas Anderson’s “Phantom Thread,” and Darren Aronofsky’s “mother!”.

The latter has now released its first footage online, a thirty-second tease ahead of the film’s full trailer scheduled to launch next Tuesday August 8th.

Jennifer Lawrence, Javier Bardem, Ed Harris, Michelle Pfeiffer, Domhnall Gleeson, and Kristen Wiig star in “mother!,” a horror project about a couple whose relationship is tested when uninvited guests arrive at their home, disrupting their existence.

Aronofsky (“Black Swan,” “Noah”) is shooting on 16mm for this one, and is keeping it top secret as the trailer comes just a little over a month out from the film’s wide release on September 15th.

Expect reviews to hit earlier though as the movie is in competition at the Venice Film Festival and will also screen at the Toronto Film Festival.
