First Details On “The Mummy” Reboot?

Whilst “Dracula Untold” boasts a coda that serves as the launch of Universal Pictures’ ambitious and interconnected ‘Classic Monster Cinematic Universe’ plans, it’s 2016’s currently untitled reboot of “The Mummy” franchise that will be the real kick-off entry.

Superhero Movies News appears to have scored a copy of the new script for the reboot and have revealed a few new details about the contemporary-set story which will follow a Navy SEAL named Tyler Colt on a mission in the Iraqi desert.

Searching what they believe to be terrorist bunker, they soon realise it’s actually a centuries old tomb protected by mystical forces. As the SEALs start turning on each other, Tyler makes it to a black iron sarcophagus which he opens.

After that, his mind is cursed with visions of the reboot’s version of the Mummy – the Assyrian king Ashurbanipal. Tyler leaves the military and becomes a reculse. Later in the film, the Mummy awakens and Tyler is the only one who can stop it.

Other characters in the script include a female archaeologist, a mysterious billionaire, and the leader of a group called the Temple Brothers. Jon Spaihts penned the script which Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci have since revised.
