First Details: “Ghost Recon: Breakpoint”

First Details Ghost Recon Breakpoint

The first details have been released for “Ghost Recon: Breakpoint,” the upcoming Ubisoft title which serves as the next chapter in the long-running tactical squad shooter game series.

Serving as a direct sequel to the recent ‘Operation Oracle’ DLC event in previous title “Ghost Recon Wildlands,” the new game will see Team Ghost squaring off against a returning villain – Cole D. Walker (Jon Bernthal) who has gone rogue and now runs an army of mechanized drones and the ‘Wolves’, a hostile faction of elite ex-military soldiers and former ‘Ghosts’.

The story is set on the fictional and environmentally diverse Pacific Ocean archipelago of Auroa, home to billionaire tech entrepreneur Jace Skell’s massive research complex. When the US army begins to detect strange activity, they send their absolute best to investigate – Nomad. The reconnaissance mission quickly turns into a fight for survival against Walker and company, not to mention issues of exhaustion, injury and the local wildlife.

Like ‘Wildlands,’ it is an open-world title that is a story-driven experience available in either solo or four-player co-op (human or AI) mode. It will also will feature competitive PvP gameplay at launch, and all character progression will be shared between single-player, co-op, and multiplayer gameplay – you can move freely between PvE and PvP gameplay.

The world itself boasts multiple biomes including mountains, marshlands, jungles and volcanoes. The boasts new stealth and cover options, new classes, customization and crafting abilities. There will also be post-launch content, including the franchise’s first-ever raid.

Ubisoft’s store will also feature a ‘Wolves’ edition which comes with a 24cm figure of Cole – yes, you can own a lifelike Jon Bernthal that clocks in at just under ten inches (presumably like the real thing). The ‘Wolves’ edition also includes a map and art book, a Year 1 DLC pass, and the ‘Ultimate Pack’ which includes three-day early access.
