While there’s bound to be many trailers this week launching at Comic Con, one that could be coming this week separate of the convention should stir up as much conversation as the biggest clips launching in San Diego. That film is “Cats”.
There’s a bunch of trepidation regarding the Tom Hooper-directed adaptation of Andrew Lloyd Weber’s divisive Broadway musical, and a lot of it has to do with the fact no-one is clear what exactly the film looks like at this point. No photos or behind-the-scenes shots have been released.
Hooper is using performance capture to make his actors, who studied cat movements and donned mo-cap outfits, look like they have real fur on them. In addition, the mo-cap wasn’t done on a green screen stage but rather on physical sets that are three to four times the usual size for perspective.
Yesterday came a rumor that the project will launch its first trailer this week and minutes ago co-star Taylor Swift indicated that something is coming from the film this Friday with a tweet which you can see below. Judi Dench, Idris Elba, Ian McKellen and Jennifer Hudson amongst others star in the film which opens at Christmas.
