Following a tease yesterday morning that production was gearing up to begin on the new “Ghostbusters” film for Sony Pictures, the film’s director Jason Reitman has now taken to his Instagram to officially announce the start of filming in Alberta, Canada.
Along with that announcement comes a behind-the-scenes photo showing off actors Mckenna Grace, Finn Wolfhard and Carrie Coon in character. Reitman also appears alongside his father Ivan Reitman, director of the first two “Ghostbusters” films with this serving as a direct sequel to those.
The story is said to focus on a single mom and her family who move back home to a small town. While there, they begin to learn more about who they are and the secrets of the town itself. Along with these three, the film also stars Paul Rudd and is expected to get many of its original stars like Bill Murray, Sigourney Weaver and Annie Potts back for appearances.
The younger Reitman is co-writing the script with Gil Kenan, and the film opens July 10th 2020.
