Late Friday came the sudden surprise announcement that Netflix had officially cancelled “Iron Fist” after two seasons. It was the first real cancellation to date of a Marvel-Netflix series and an abrupt end to a show which not only ended on a cliffhanger but had grown in critical appreciation.
Now the show’s star Finn Jones, who portrayed the title character of Danny Rand/Iron Fist, has posted a response to the news on his Instagram account:
“With every end is a new beginning. I have an enormous amount of love and respect for everyone involved with the last two seasons of this show. Defending the greatest city in the world amongst the most talented and warmest people has been a privilege and a joy. Blessed to have taken this journey and grateful for the ongoing support.”
The question is will the show live on in some way? There’s certainly hints of that possibility. With Disney’s streaming service coming online next year, there’s the potential for more with the story. It has also been suggested that some of the characters will show up in other Marvel-Netflix series, such as Jones did in the second season of “Luke Cage”.
