Fincher Set For “Pawn”, Considers “Girl”

David Fincher has set his next directing job to be the chess drama “Pawn Sacrifice” over at Sony Pictures reports Variety.

Tobey Maguire will produce and potentially star in the project about chess grandmaster Bobby Fischer and the historic world championship 1972 match with Russian Boris Spassky.

Steven Knight (“Dirty Pretty Things,” “Eastern Promises”) penned the script and Gail Katz will produce.

Fincher is also apparently looking into the US remake of Swedish novel “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” which Scott Rudin is producing. The Swedish film adaptation of ‘Girl’ opens this week in limited release.
