Fincher, Mara Re-Team On “Utopia”

Whilst David Fincher’s “Videosyncrazy” project at HBO may have fallen apart midway through shooting the first season, his other series in the works at the premium cabler seems to be picking up steam.

The Wrap’s Jeff Sneider reports that Rooney Mara, who worked with Fincher on both “The Social Network” and the U.S. version of “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo,” is reportedly in talks for a role in HBO’s “Utopia,” the remake of the cult British series of the same name.

Fincher is working with “Gone Girl” author Gillian Flynn to adapt the project for the U.S. market. The story follows a group of people who find themselves in possession of a manuscript for the sequel to a cult graphic novel called “The Utopia Experiments”.

Said comic is rumoured to have predicted the worst disasters of the last century, and the manuscript suggests future disasters on the way. At the same time, they find themselves the targets of a organisation known as The Network.

At last report Fincher will direct all the episodes of the first season.
