Now playing in select cinemas and ahead of its launch on the streaming service next week, Netflix has released the final trailer for “The King,” a new film adaptation of parts of the latter parts of The Henriad by “The Rover” and “Animal Kingdom” director David Michod.
Timothee Chalamet and Joel Edgerton lead the cast which blends Shakespeare’s two-part Henry the IV plays and Henry V into one narrative and changes the dialogue to make it more accessible.
Chalamet will play the young disgraced Henry V who inherits the crown during a rocky time in English history and must learn how to be king with the help of Falstaff (Edgerton).
Robert Pattinson plays French prince The Dauphin, Ben Mendelsohn is King Henry IV, Lily-Rose Depp will play French Princess Catherine, Tom Glynn-Carney is Hotspur, and Thomasin Harcourt McKenzie is Philippa. Edgerton co-wrote the script with Michod.
