In some welcome news, ERC Box Office reports that 20th Century Fox has scheduled a February 17th 2017 release date for “The Maze Runner: The Death Cure,” the third and final film adaptation in the trilogy of films based on James Dashner’s novel series.
The news also confirmed that, unlike a lot of other young adult novel franchises, this one will NOT split the final movie into two films. T.S. Nowlin has come aboard to write the screenplay for the film, though it’s unknown if filmmaker Wes Ball will return as well.
The first ‘Maze Runner’ opened last September to $340.7 million worldwide from just a $34 million production budget. The second film in the series, “The Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials,” opens later this year.
