Peter Jackson’s “The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies” opened to a decent $56 million for the weekend and a robust $90.6 million for its first five days at the North American box-office. Overseas, ‘Hobbit’ dominated the frame with the film expanding after a smaller rollout last weekend. It currently sits at $355.6 million worldwide.
Audiences seem more impressed with the film than critics, giving the movie an A- CinemaScore. They also hogged a good portion of the audience with both “Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb” and “Annie” scoring soft starts with $17.3 million and $16.3 million respectively.
Meanwhile, Ridley Scott’s “Exodus: Gods and Kings” plummeted 67% in its second weekend and sits at a worrying domestic total of $38.9 million after ten days.
