Robert Schwentke has reportedly dropped out of directing “Divergent: Ascendant,” the fourth and final film installment in Lionsgate’s adaptation of the Veronica Roth novel series.
Schwentke reportedly needed a break after making the two previous films “Insurgent” and the upcoming “Allegiant”. The studio is now scrambling to find a director to keep the series on schedule with a June 9th 2017 release date for “Ascendant” being targeted.
Shailene Woodley, Miles Teller, Theo James and Naomi Watts star in both the third and final outing. That third film, “Allegiant,” opens March 18th.
