Production on the first season of Netflix’s “The Witcher” series adaptation has wrapped according to showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich.
Based on the best-selling fantasy novel series, which became the celebrated video game series, “The Witcher” sees Superman actor Henry Cavill taking on the lead role of the silver-haired Geralt of Rivia.
The solitary monster hunter struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts. When destiny hurtles him toward a powerful sorceress, and a young princess with a dangerous secret, the three must learn to navigate the increasingly volatile Continent together.
Filming kicked off in Eastern Europe in November last year on an eight-episode first season with Sean Daniel, Jason Brown, Tomek Baginski and Jarek Sawko also executive producing.
It’s expected the series will launch either very late in the fourth quarter of this year, or sometime in the first quarter of 2020.
