Fifty Shades To Break Piracy Records Too

The recent “Fifty Shades of Grey” film adaptation is not only breaking box-office and ticket sales records, it’s doing the same with piracy figures as well.

Piracy-tracking firm Excipio has revealed that 298,037 unique Internet addresses downloaded a camcorder version of the movie as of 6pm US-EST on Sunday night, the U.S. featuring the most with 44,896 followed by the U.K. with 33,839.

To put it in comparison 2014’s biggest domestic box-office grosser, Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy,” was downloaded by 198,873 users over its first weekend.

Despite the piracy downloads, “Fifty Shades of Grey” over performed its box-office projections by a considerable amount.
