The two “Fifty Shades of Grey” sequels will be shot back-to-back in 2016 with James Foley (“Perfect Stranger,” “Glengarry Glen Ross”) directing both reports The Wrap.
Foley was previously said to be the front runner to helm the second film “Fifty Shades Darker”, but now the site reports that they’ve confirmed that not only does he have the gig but he’ll do “Fifty Shades Freed” as well.
Despite bad reviews, the first film made more than $570 million worldwide. Sam Taylor-Johnson helmed the first but both she and screenwriter Kelly Marcel opted not to return. Niall Leonard will now pen the script.
Both Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson are expected to return as Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele for the adaption of the next two books in author E L James’ series.
The two films are targeting Valentine’s Day 2017 and 2018 releases.
