If you wanted to see more of the on screen incarnations of Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey, you’ll soon be able to get it. Universal Pictures Home Entertainment has announced a May 8th release date for Blu-ray, DVD and On Demand versions of “Fifty Shades of Grey”.
The big news, and one that’s not surprising, is that the Blu-ray and Digital HD versions will include an exclusive unrated version that features a never-before-seen alternate ending.
There’s also special features galore, a discussion with the BDSM consultant, 360 degree set tours including the Red Room, music videos, and extensive featurettes.
The trailer comes as producer Dana Brunetti says that no work has yet begun on the upcoming sequel, “Fifty Shades Darker”. In fact progress on the follow-up seems to be slow despite the first film’s success, Brunetti telling THR:
“We literally have no idea what we’re going to do. I have not even met with the studio or anybody yet about the second film. We always said, ‘Let’s get this first one out and released, and then we’ll regroup and figure out what we’re going to do on the next.’ That hasn’t happened yet.
So, [author E.L. James] hasn’t been back to the States [from her home in London] yet. I haven’t been into the studio yet. We’ve sent some emails back and forth and were basically like, ‘OK, we’re just going to figure out when everyone can get together and meet.'”
“Fifty Shades Darker” is currently slated for a 2017 release.
