Following the release of the official first trailer for “Fifty Shades Darker” earlier this week comes word that this clip for the second installment of the S&M-themed erotic franchise racked up 114 million views across platforms in its first 24 hours.
Universal Pictures announced the figure, tabulating a view count across YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, etc. That makes it the highest-performing full-length trailer release online of all time, beating out the 112 million views that the third trailer for “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” racked up.
‘Darker’ was viewed 39.4 million times in North America and 74.6 million times overseas. The first film in the series, “Fifty Shades of Grey,” grossed over $571 million at the global box office. The new one opens February 10th.
