“Pirates” film series scribe Terry Rossio tells The Hollywood Reporter that he’s delivered the script for a fifth ‘Pirates’ to Disney so the decision to move forward now rests with them.
Johnny Depp, though happy to play the role again, isn’t keen to slip back into his period togs too fast following on from the upcoming “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides”.
Depp says “It boils down to story, script and filmmaker. it’s not something where I would say, ‘Let’s shoot it next month to get it out by Christmas 2012. We should hold off for a bit. They should be special, just like they are special to me.”
He’s likely referring to the gruelling shooting schedule of the second and third film which resulted in both films ultimately proving something of a mess despite proving very profitable.
