One of the big elements of the recent first trailer for “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” earlier this week was that of a ‘Wanted’ poster for Johnny Depp’s Captain Jack Sparrow. Today, the film’s co-director Joachim Rønning has thanked fans on Instagram with a closer look at the poster.
Norwegian filmmakers Espen Sandberg and Joachim Rønning created the superb ocean-set Oscar-nominated “Kon-Tiki” which offered stunning effects on a tight budget making them a strong choice for the role. The film, shot last year in Australia, has been under wraps for sometime throughout post production and emerged with this week’s trailer and poster launch which scored a great reception.
Depp, Geoffrey Rush and Orlando Bloom return for the film which also sees Javier Bardem, Brenton Thwaites and Paul McCartney join the cast. Bardem’s Captain Salazar sets out to nab the Trident of Poseidon, a powerful artifact that bestows upon its possessor total control over the seas.
“Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” will debut in cinemas on May 26th next year.
