The fifth film in the “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise hits next Summer and boasts one hell of a long title – “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales”.
It’s long enough that the film is getting a different title in some territories. Specifically in the U.K. it’s going to be called “Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar’s Revenge” while in France, Italy, and Spain it’s going by “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Revenge of Salazar” according to Den of Geek.
No official reason has been given for the title change, but as the site says it’s usually something to do with trademarks or similarly-titled projects in different parts of the world.
Javier Bardem plays the titular villain of the film who leads his ghost pirate crew in an effort to kill every pirate in the region and has a special hatred for Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp). The film opens in May next year.
