It’s official, Indiana Jones is set to return.
Steven Spielberg will direct and Harrison Ford will star in a currently untitled fifth installment in the classic action-adventure franchise which is targeting a July 19th 2019 release. Disney chairman Alan Horn made the announcement this morning, saying:
“Indiana Jones is one of the greatest heroes in cinematic history, and we can’t wait to bring him back to the screen in 2019. It’s rare to have such a perfect combination of director, producers, actor and role, and we couldn’t be more excited to embark on this adventure with Harrison and Steven.”
Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall will produce the film which will open six days after Ford turns 77 years old. Paramount retains rights to the first four films and will receive a financial participation on any future films that are produced and released.
