“Talladega Nights” and “Step Brothers” stars Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly are re-teaming to play Arthur Conan Doyle’s famous detective team in the comedy “Holmes and Watson” at Sony Pictures.
Ferrell will pick up the magnifying glass to play Sherlock Holmes while Reilly will take on the role of sidekick Dr. John Watson. The script has been floating around for nearly a decade and at one point had Ferrell and Sacha Baron Cohen set to star.
“Tropic Thunder” and “Men in Black 3” scribe Etan Cohen penned the script and is set to direct the comedy which will be produced by Ferrell and Adam McKay’s Gary Sanchez label.
The announcement comes ahead of both more episodes of the BBC’s “Sherlock” hitting next year along with a third film in Guy Ritchie’s big-budget “Sherlock Holmes” franchise being in development.
