Disney and Lucasfilm have reportedly set Oscar-nominated “The Theory of Everything” actress Felicity Jones for the female lead role in the Gareth Edwards-directed 3D “Star Wars” spin-off film and have begun negotiations with the actress.
Jones has beaten out Rooney Mara and Tatiana Maslany for the part, the latter rumored to have clinched it since last week and was still rumored for the role earlier today. Turns out Jones won the part after all.
Chris Weitz is penning the script, taking over from Gary Whitta who wrote the first version of the screenplay. Plot details are still unknown.
