Felicity Jones (“Rogue One,” “A Monster Calls”) is attached to star in an untitled film project inspired by famed ballet “Swan Lake” with acclaimed “A Bigger Splash” and “Call Me By Your Name” helmer Luca Guadagnino set to direct.
The original follows a princess that is turned into a swan by an evil sorcerer’s curse. This version is ditching Tchaikovsky’s ballet and will instead use the story, which was originally fashioned from Russian folk tales, as the centerpiece for a major studio tentpole.
Kristina Lauren Anderson (“The Alienist,” “Girlfriend”), whose 2014 script “Catherine the Great” topped the annual Blacklist, is penning the script.
Mandeville Films is producing with numerous major studios in contention for the project including Paramount and Universal. Guadagnino is presently in post-production on his remake of Dario Argento’s “Suspiria”.
