In a conference call late last week, Marvel executive Peter Cuneo talked a little about the comic publisher’s upcoming film plans and IESB.Net jotted down some of the details.
Most important question on the table – a fourth “Spider-Man”. Cuneo says “It’s really up to Sony, it’s up to them, most likely scenario is 2010 or 2011 but we can’t speak for them and I think, that we don’t know. They have given us their re-up payment for that film so you know they’re going to make it within a reasonable timeframe. Sony may be looking at some issues with the cast and so on, I think they have to make some decisions.”
Cuneo confirms that Marvel Studios will not be doing any R-rated films in the near future on their own, but will do so when partnering with another studio (that’s how they can justify future “Punisher” and “Blade” films).
Finally he says that “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” just wrapped principal photography in Australia with only a couple of weeks of second unit pick up shots left to do. The tone of the film is said to be like a “gritty 70’s type of action film”.
