AMC’s “The Walking Dead” spinoff “Fear the Walking Dead” launched on Sunday night to gigantic ratings. Live + Same Day figures show that the new limited series’ 90-minute premiere pulled in a whopping 10.1 million viewers.
That number is bigger than any other series premiere previously aired on the network – almost double that of its progenitor and far more than the impressive 6.88 million viewers for “Better Call Saul” – and it stands as the most watched launch in cable history. Among targeted adults 18-49, the episode brought in 6.3 million.
“The Walking Dead” remains the best rated show on television with last year’s fifth season launching to 17.3 million viewers and only one episode of its sixteen episode run this past season dipping below the 13 million mark.
