“Iron Man” director Jon Favreau and star Robert Downey Jr. will re-team for another comic adaptation, the long-gestating “Cowboys and Aliens” project for Dreamworks and Universal says the trades.
Favreau is circling to direct the film which has had Downey attached since last summer. Filming is aiming to kick off next Summer.
In ‘Cowboys’, cowboys and Native Americans battle in the Old West time in Arizona — until a spaceship crashes and a new enemy equipped with superior technology emerges.
Brian Grazer, Ron Howard, Scott Mitchell Rosenberg, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci will produce.
Kurtzman, Orci and “Lost” exec producer Damon Lindelof will re-write the script with the trio also committed to the script for the next “Star Trek” sequel.
Filming would kick off next summer with Paramount having an option to co-distribute the film with new DreamWorks distributor Disney.
