Though the majority of filming on the eighth “Fast and Furious” feature is scheduled to take place in New York and Atlanta, it was previously reported that Universal Pictures was looking at Cuba, Russia and Iceland to potentially serve as locations for the new film.
Now, Visir (via Iceland Review) reports that the Iceland shoot is definitely happening with shooting to take place in April around the West Iceland harbor town of Akranes – around 28 miles north of ReykjavÃk. The scale of the filming should be impressive too as it’s said to involve the “largest explosion ever in Iceland”.
F. Gary Gray helms “Fast 8” which follows in the wake of the $1.5 billion earned by “Furious 7” at the worldwide box office. Jason Statham, Dwayne Johnson, Kurt Russell, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Chris ‘Ludacris’ Bridges, Elsa Pataky and Lucas Black will reprise their roles in the new film which opens April 14th 2017.
