Fassbender Swaps Shame For “Slave”

Their first collaboration, “Hunger”, put them on the map. Their second, “Shame”, is one of this year’s most talked about festival films.

Now, director Steve McQueen and actor Michael Fassbender are set to re-team for a third time on McQueen’s upcoming project “12 Years a Slave” says Variety.

Set in the mid-19th century, the film tells the true story of New Yorker Solomon Northrup (Chiwetel Ejiofor) who was kidnapped and shipped off into forced labor. Eventually he was rescued from a Louisiana cotton plantation in 1853.

McQueen and John Ridley co-wrote the script with shooting to kick off early next year. Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner are set to produce.
