Michael Fassbender is in negotiations to star in Derek Cianfrance’s “The Light Between Oceans” at DreamWorks.
An adaptation of M.L. Stedman’s debut novel, the story follows a lighthouse keeper and his wife living on a remote Australian island in the years following the end of the first World War.
The pair are soon faced with a moral dilemma when a boat washes up on their with a dead man and a two-year-old. They raise the child as their own with devastating consequences.
David Heyman and Jeffrey Clifford will produce. Filming aims to take place in Australia but the specific dates are unknown.
Fassbender is already committed to several other projects including “Assassin’s Creed,” “Prometheus 2” and “The Mountain Between Us.”
