Michael Fassbender is set to join Brendan Gleeson’s ensemble period drama “At-Swim-Two-Birds” which has been in development for a few years now at Parallel Films and the recently joined Film Fund Luxembourg.
An adaptation of Flann O’Brien’s acclaimed 1939 novel, the story follows a teenage student who populates his creative writing with important characters from his own life. Gleeson acquired the rights to the film seven years ago and has been working on it seriously for four years.
According to Screen Daily, the German born and Irish raised Fassbender has committed to a cast that already includes a ton of Irish actors who’ve made it big in Hollywood – Gabriel Byrne, Colin Farrell, Cillian Murphy and Gleeson’s son Domhnall (“Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows”).
Funding is still coming together and shooting is now likely to kick off in spring 2012.
